FELTMOLDING

cheLA -TaMaCo
In collaboration with Natalia Alvarez Ezeiza
Buenos Aires, Argentina

2017

This project seeks to bring together the realm of craftsmanship and digital techniques in design and fabrication. The aim was to explore the material properties of felt in a forming process using negative and positive molds to create an acoustic interior panel. The result is an acoustic surface capable of producing a sharp sensation by touching. The installation is modular, composed of several pieces. Each one is rigid, thin, light, and easily transportable. The felt material was prepared from scratch and then molded into CNC- molds.

This project was carried out within the framework of a seminar at TaMaCo-cheLA.
